Seal live in South Africa

The excitement is building up with British superstar Seal set to hit South African shores brought to you by Jacaranda FM in just under a few weeks!

Seal also known as Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel was born in Nigeria, but his Nigerian mother and Brazilian father relocated to England when he was an infant.

Seal’s first inklings of a musical career began when he found himself singing "I Can See Clearly Now" at a school concert aged 11, which was also the first time his parents ever heard him sing. He recalls them being completely star struck ‘as they stood there with a look of disbelief on their faces' - that’s when he knew he had something special.

Even before Seal became a multi-millionaire soul star, he began touring countries after joining an English funk band called Push in the mid-eighties.  The band went on a tour in Japan, from there, Seal made his way to Thailand, singing in a blues band, before leaving for India on his own.

Seal's first big breakthrough came when he collaborated with Acid House producer Adamski on the song 'Killer' in 1990 which became No. 1 in the UK charts. This brought him to the attention of record label ZTT and veteran producer Trevor Horn, from massively influential prog-rock band Yes and Liverpudlian band Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The album sold millions worldwide.

Catch Seal live on Sunday 12th June 2016 at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg.

With global smash hits including: ‘Kiss from a Rose”, which appeared on the soundtrack to the 1995 film Batman Forever. Seal has won many music awards throughout his career including three Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music Award. As a songwriter, he has received the British Academy’s Ivor Novello Award, for Best Song Musicially and Lyrically, in consecutive years for “Killer” and “Crazy”.

In 2012, Seal was one of the four vocal coaches in the first season of the Australian version of the reality singing competition The Voice and coached the series winner Karise Eden. Seal returned to The Voice in season two where he became the winning coach once again with winner Harrison Craig.

On his latest album release ‘7’ Seal commented, “ it concerns the most sung about, most talked about and most documented emotion – love”. He reunited with long-time collaborator producer Trevor Horn. This continued partnership began with his debut platinum certified release ‘Seal’ (1991) and continued with the quadruple-platinum ‘Seal II’ (1994), the gold selling “Human Being” (1998) and “Seal IV” (2003).

Seal will be performing in South Africa in June 2016 for three nights only in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
